Varrin first became interested in libertarian ideas at a very young
age. He was exposed to libertarianism primarily through his father,
Virgil Swearingen and a family friend, Marshall Fritz. By the time
Varrin was in high school he had become so turned off by government schools
that he decided to go to a private high school for his senior year (with
his parents' approval, of course). That decision was key in his pursuit
of aviation as a career and, ultimately, this run for Congress.
For years he has observed politicians in Washington take away our money
and take away our freedom. Though Varrin and his close friends often
discuss politics, not enough was getting accomplished to reverse that trend.
After the tragic events of September 11, Varrin became inspired to take
action. Far too few people actively promote a libertarian style,
constitutionally bound government. With this campaign, Varrin wants
to build and focus support in Central California for a government that
follows the constitution. Varrin is the only candidate at this time
who is doing that in District 20.
